The Shih Tzu
The Shih Tzu, meaning lion dog in Chinese, is calm tempered, sweet mannered and an extremely affectionate breed. They rarely get credit for how intelligent they are, but they are extremely sharp! When they look at you, they stare and see right through you into your
heart and soul!
The Shih Tzu are very unique in that they come in an array of colors and sizes, so there is always a variety to choose from. Their coats are beautiful and they do not shed, which is a bonus that most people are unaware of. Unlike most small breeds, they are not yappy or hyper.
That is not to say they are not playful, because they are!
The Shih Tzu love to lounge around most of the day, especially next to you or in your lap. They love their toys, but they love you more! If you are considering a Shih Tzu as a pet, you will not be disappointed. They are great with children and get along with other breeds very well. Each household is different and it is important to be well informed that the Shih Tzu need a lot of love and attention.
Having the breed for many years as pets and rescuing them for years as well, the Shih Tzu breed is not just one that I love, but they are my passion! Our adults are raised in our home as members of our family and some are co-owned and reside with local family and friends.
